P2P

File sharing is the transfer of digital information between two users. File transfer is usually done over the network. P2P file sharing is the sharing of digital information using a peer-to-peer networking technology. In peer-to-peer file sharing you "use a program to locate computers that have the file you want." For example, torrenting is a P2P networking technology. The advantages of P2P file sharing is that its easier to set up and all nodes of the network act as a server, meaning that there's no need for a dedicated server. It is also less expensive. The disadvantages of P2P networking include security issues and centralized server (there is no one in charge of all the data). Some examples of P2P file sharing are Limewire, Gnutella, or any torrenting service.
