BLOG: Blog v Wiki

Blogs and Wikis are examples of new media and have changed the way people communicate ideas to the public. The main difference between a blog and a wiki is that a blog is more personal compared to a wiki. A wiki is the collaboration of a group of authors. Wikis typically are just a database of information or facts. However, wikis may not always be reliable because people sometimes intentional post false information. In the article, Wikipedia to Limit Changes to Articles on People, Wikipedia implemented a "new feature, called 'flagged revisions,'", that "will require that an experienced volunteer editor for Wikipedia sign off on any change made by the public before it can go live."  Articles on a wiki will always be updated unlike a blog. A blog typically will have chronological, personal journal entries. For example in the article, Pentagon Keeps Wary Watch as Troops Blog,  "over the course of 10 months in eastern Afghanistan, an Army specialist nicknamed Mud Puppy maintained a blog irreverently chronicling life at the front, from the terror of roadside bombs to the tyrannies of master sergeants." Blogs, unlike wikis, can offer first-hand experiences.

  1. Hey Benny
Great comparison of blogs and wikis, I agree blogs have an individualized touch to it because it is just one writer who can write their own thoughts. The personal touch such as experiences is one of the main things that draw people to blogs and sets it apart from wikis, if the reader can connect to an article they would become loyal subscribers or supporters of the blog.
